nature, as brittle as dry bones and soft like marrow. Welch writes with an open, bleeding heart, that gives zero fucks about cracking open ribs and leaving tear stains all down your shirt. Welch’s writing is a balm and gasoline all at once soothing in its flammability, in its comforting violence. It’s okay to be mad here, it’s okay to fall apart, break down and break things. It’s okay because healing is not linear, healing is ragged and wrenching and screaming bloody murder. What ties the whole collection together is its intensity of Love – there is so much Love here, for the bloodiness of love, for survival and people and self.
